Rostov activists demand law on animals protection

The protest rally in Rostov-on-Don has joined the All-Russian action "The Law Is Needed Now!" Zoo activists demand to finally adopt the law, which was approved in the first reading seven years ago.

The rally for the adoption of the law "On Responsible Treatment of Animals" was held today in the Builders' Park in Rostov-on-Don, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

According to organizers, it was more than 50 people strong. Similar actions took place on April 14 in many other cities.

"Today, 50 cities across Russia hold the All-Russian action 'The Law Is Needed Now!' In 2011, the law was adopted in the first reading, but this was the end; and since then we have been waiting for it. The rally is dedicated to it; we need a law on humane treatment of animals," Margarita Agafangelos, an organizer, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
