In Yerevan, half of arrested activists set free

Until the end of today's working day, all the activists detained and arrested in cases on organization of riots and illegal rallies in Yerevan will be released, their advocates predict.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at a rally held in Yerevan on April 23, Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of the "Civil Accord" Party, said that during the talks with acting Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, the oppositionists agreed on the release of all the detained and arrested activists and the police stopped detaining participants of the protest actions.

Last night, Armen Grigoryan and David Sanasaryan, coordinators of the movement "Reject Serzh!", Levon Barsegyan, the head of the "Asparez" journalists' club of Gyumri, and activist Tigran Mazmanyan have been released, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Gayane Abraamyan, the head of the public organization "For the Sake of Equality".

Gayane Abraamyan has noted that, as of April 23, about 700 people were detained, arrested or subjected to bringing to police stations, of which 41 people were arrested.

"As of the evening of April 23, all those subjected to bringing to police stations were released from the police stations. Half of the arrested activists are already at large. The decision to release the rest has been made, but the process takes time. I believe that by the end of the day, all the activists will be free," said Gayane Abraamyan.
