"Georgian Dream" announces return of Bidzina Ivanishvili to politics

Bidzina Ivanishvili, the former Prime Minister of Georgia, has agreed to lead the "Georgian Dream" Party he founded earlier. This has been reported today by Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the chairman of the "Georgian Dream" Party.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 17, 2013, after the inauguration of new Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili, the government of the country headed by Bidzina Ivanishvili resigned. A week later, on November 24, Bidzina Ivanishvili made an official statement that he would no longer be engaged in politics.

Today, at a special briefing broadcasted by the "Rustavi 2" TV Channel, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the chairman of the "Georgian Dream" Party, has reported that Bidzina Ivanishvili agreed to lead the ruling "Georgian Dream-Democratic Movement" Party.

According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the decision is related to the need to strengthen the Party and preserve the "unity of views on state and fundamental issues," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

In the coming days, the issue will be considered at the political council of the "Georgian Dream" Party and then at its congress, the Prime Minister reports.
