More than 150 people injured in European Championships in Dagestan

During four days of competitions at the European Wrestling Championships in Kaspiysk, 150 people addressed doctors for help, despite official statements of no incidents. Most injured people are mostly athletes, but there are also spectators, the Ministry for Public Health reports, describing a case of a fan diagnosed with a heart attack.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Wrestling Championships in Kaspiysk began with enhanced security measures.

Most of the athletes and spectators who addressed the doctors got minor injuries, including bruises, cuts, and nasal bleeding, the Dagestani Ministry for Public Health reports.

One of the fans was diagnosed with a heart attack, and an athlete from Poland was diagnosed with a hand fracture.

"It should be noted that for the first time in the world practice, the medical teams of sports competitions include resuscitators and traumatologists," said Miroslav Ibragimov, the chief doctor of the Republican Medical Prevention Centre as quoted by the website of the Dagestani Ministry for Public Health.
