Chechnya restricts carrying weapons due to 2018 FIFA World Cup

In the period from May 25 to July 25, in Chechnya, carrying of weapons will be limited in connection with the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, reports the Department for Chechnya of the National Guard of Russia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 17, the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported on raids to inspect the storage of traumatic and hunting weapons by local residents.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held in Russia in the period from June 14 to July 15. The football matches will be hosted by three cities of Southern Russia, including Rostov-on-Don, Sochi and Volgograd, as well as Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, and Yekaterinburg.

Restrictions on carrying of weapons are introduced in accordance with the decree on enhanced security measures during the 2018 FIFA World Cup issued by the President of Russia.

In the period from May 25 to July 25, the circulation of civil and service weapons and ammunition is banned in the Chechen Republic.

During the 2018 FIFA World Cup to be held in Russia, Grozny will host the national team of Egypt, which members will arrive in the city in early June, the Chechen Ministry for Sports reports.
