Oyub Titiev, the head of the Grozny's office of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", has been in custody on charges of possessing marijuana since January 11. He keeps asserting that the drug had been planted on him by a law enforcer.

Mr Kadyrov reported the detention of Adam Titiev, at 10:18 p.m. Moscow time on May 25 in his Telegram channel. According to the message, Oyub Titiev's nephew was detained "two days ago" with a package of narcotic substance.

According to Ramzan Kadyrov, Adam Titiev had been twice convicted for possessing drugs – for the first time in 2001 in Dagestan, and for the second time – in Chechnya in 2011. For the time being, the "Caucasian Knot" has no confirmation of Adam Titiev's detention and his previous convictions from independent sources.

In his message, Kadyrov also mentioned the meeting of Alexander Cherkasov, the head of the HRC "Memorial", with French President Emmanuel Macron: "I think that all human rights defenders led by Cherkasov need to come to Chechnya to find out why Titiev Jr. is behind the bars," Kadyrov wrote.
