Azerbaijan reports liberation of Gunnut village
In the evening on June 8, the "Nukhchykhan", a public news agency of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, reported on the restoration of the Azerbaijan's control over the village of Gunnut, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
"In late May, as a result of the operation conducted by the Independent Combined Arms, the village of Gunnut and the important strategic heights around it were liberated from the occupation," the "Nukhchykhan" reports.
According to the news agency, the Azerbaijani army occupied Mount Hunut, the hill of Agbulag, and Mounts Gyzylgaya and Mekhridag. In total, the territory of over 11,000 hectares, including 8000 hectares suitable for farming, has passed under the control of Azerbaijan. The seizure of the height of Gyzylgai situated 1683 meters above sea level allows the Azerbaijani army to control the Yerevan-Yegegnadzor-Goris-Lachin-Khankendi (Stepanakert) road, which connects Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, the "Nukhchykhan" reports.
The news agency also notes that "in order to strengthen the protection of the territory, a new 50-km road has been constructed and roads totalling more than 55 km have been reconstructed."
