Armenian observers alarmed about cruise missiles at parade in Baku

Despite the Azerbaijan's demonstration of modern types of weapons, it is too early to talk about a change in the balance of forces for the parties to the Karabakh conflict. However, Armenia should be ready for a new aggravation of the conflict, Armenian experts believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 26, a military parade in honour of the Day of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and the 100th anniversary of the national army was held in Baku. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev noted that "the war in Karabakh was not over."

Azerbaijan spends "billions of US dollars" to purchase modern weapons to resolve the Karabakh conflict by military means, believes military analyst Samvel Agababyan.

According to him, operational-tactical and antitank missile systems and rocket artillery represent a special threat to the security of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. Such weapons are highly technological pieces able to deliver precise strikes.

Meanwhile, Samvel Agababyan believes the Armenian Armed Forces and the Defence Army of Nagorno-Karabakh are able to neutralize threats. According to him, that is indicated by the fact that Azerbaijan is not in a hurry to unleash another large-scale war.

The weapons demonstrated at the parade in Baku did not change the balance of power in favour of Azerbaijan, but rather violated the stability of the balance, suggested Leonid Nersisyan.

However, that does not mean that Armenia should not think about purchasing new types of weapons, added military expert Taron Ovannisyan. He did not rule out a new aggravation of the Karabakh conflict.
