Casualties in Chechnya
An officer of the Counter-terrorist centre (CTC) was killed and four police officers sustained wounds as a result of various attacks in Chechnya yesterday, 20 September. The attacks were committed in Grozny and the Shelkovskaia district (in the north of the republic), Chechnya's law enforcement agencies told Caucasian Knot.
"A group of unidentified persons shot automatic weapons at an officer of Chechnya's Internal Affairs Ministry who was guarding the courthouse in Grozny's Staropromyslovskii district at about 9.00 pm MSK. The police officer sustained a serious gunshot wound and was admitted to hospital," a source with Chechnya's Internal Affairs Ministry said.
"Approximately at the same time, three vehicles with officers of the local police department were shot near the Krasnyi Voskhod ("Red Sunrise") farm in the Shelkovskaia district. A CTC officer attached to the Shelkovskaia District Division of Internal Affairs was killed and three police officers were wounded," the source said.
