Mikhail Saakashvili concerned over issue of winner in 2008 war
On the anniversary of the "five-day war," Mikhail Saakashvili claimed that threats from the US stopped the Russian offensive action against Georgia. As a result of the war, Russia did not succeed in changing the government of Georgia and, according to Mikhail Saakashvili, did not win anything, "except for the capture of several dozen villages."
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the day of August 8 marks the 10th anniversary for the start of the Russian special operation "forcing peace in the peacekeepers' zone of responsibility," which went down in history as "the five-day war."
The Russia's attack on Tbilisi was stopped by the US actions and threats to use force, said former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili on the anniversary of the 2008 five-day war. However, according to him, the United States intervened not immediately.
On the air of the Radio Station "Ekho Moskvy", Mikhail Saakashvili said that he had to shout at George W. Bush to force him to react to the Russian offensive action. According to Mikhail Saakashvili, he told George W. Bush about the risk for the restoration of the USSR.
