Activist tells about law enforcers' reaction to picket in Khazbiev's defence

In Moscow, at the buildings of the Federation Council (FC) and the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO), a resident of Dagestan has held a solo picket in support of the Ingush oppositionist Magomed Khazbiev.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 10, Khazbiev addressed the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) about his inhuman treatment and unjustified isolation. At the court session that took place on the same day, Akhmet Iliev, a former district policeman confirmed the defence's statement about forgeries in the case materials; while the linguist Elena Novozhilova pointed to the shortcomings of the psycholinguistic examination that made the basis for charging.

The solo picket was held in Moscow on September 12 and lasted for about two hours. The activist held a large poster demanding from the head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov "to release the political prisoner Magomed Khazbiev."

"I was walking along the street from the FC to the GPO. Two hours later, policemen approached me and said that my presence there was undesirable. Ordinary people came up to me; they were interested in the picket. No one from state agencies came out to me. Policemen behaved quite correctly," the picketer named Alexander told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
