Interpol announces search for Tatunashvili's torturers

The South-Ossetian law enforcers David Gurtsiev and Alik Taboev, accused of involvement in the death of the detained Georgian citizen Archil Tatunashvili, have been announced wanted under the red circular of the Interpol. In case of their capture, Georgia will seek extradition of them to Georgia, the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Archil Tatunashvili died in a hospital in Tskhinvali on February 23, the day after he was detained by South-Ossetian law enforcers on suspicion of preparing an act of sabotage. Later, Georgian experts fixed traces of torture on his body, Sozar Subari, the Minister for Displaced Persons has stated.

Today, the General Secretariat of the Interpol has announced red circulars on David Gurtsiev, a KGB (Committee for State Security) officer of South Ossetia, and Alik Taboev, an employee of the prosecutor's office, who, according to Georgia, were involved in detention of Tatunashvili on February 22, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports. Gurtsiev and Taboev are accused of Archil Tatunashvili's illegal deprivation of freedom and torture under aggravating circumstances.

"If they are identified in one of the countries, Georgia will take all necessary steps for their detention and extradition, so that they could face the Georgian justice," says the message of the Georgian MIA sent to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
