NAC confirms killing of a militant in Dagestan

Today, a militant has been killed in the area of the Buynaksk Pass after he opened fire on law enforcers, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reports. A source from the law enforcement bodies reported that the killed suspect was identified as Shamil Bilalov, a member of the Endirei grouping.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 27, the counterterrorist (CTO) legal regime was introduced in the Buynaksk and Kumtorkala Districts in Dagestan. Today, sources have reported that law enforcers killed a 26-year-old resident of the Endirei village in the Khasavyurt District.

Last night, in the mountainous wooded belt in the area of the Buynaksk Pass, law enforcers encountered and cordoned off an armed man who rendered resistance and was killed in a shootout, the NAC reported. In its report, the NAC notes that no law enforcers or civilians were injured.

According to the NAC, the killed suspect was involved in terrorist crimes. At the place of the shootout, law enforcers found a submachine gun, a pistol, an improvised explosive device (IED), ammunition, and special equipment, reported the NAC on its website.

The man killed near the village of Talgi was identified as Shamil Bilalov, born in 1992, a militant from the Endirei grouping, the TASS reports with reference to a source from the law enforcement bodies in Dagestan.

Earlier, a person with the same name was mentioned by sources from the law enforcement bodies among the people suspected of attacking a police checkpoint near Kizilyurt on December 25, 2016. However, no official confirmation of the information followed.
