Chechen authorities report on development of military tourism
The first group of foreign tourists has arrived in Chechnya within the "MilitaryTour" programme. The Committee on Tourism of the Chechen Government has prepared a two-week programme for them, noting the nice prospects of this type of tourism.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in late 2017, Chechen authorities stated an increase in the number of tourists visiting the region. According to residents of Grozny, at the New Year Tree, there were more tourists than locals.
There are 18 tourist routes in Chechnya; two of them – the water and the bicycle ones – were opened in June 2016.
"The first group of foreign tourists consists of citizens of China. A recreation programme has been prepared for them, including trips along mountain routes in combat buggies named "Chaborz" (a cross-country vehicle, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), shooting from various types of weapons and flying in an aerodynamic tube. A tent camp has been set up for tourists with the conditions close to the military situation," said a source from the Committee on Tourism of the Chechen Government.
According to his story, the two-week "MilitaryTour" will be available not only to foreigners, but also to residents of Chechnya and other regions of Russia.
He has added that in recent years, tourism in Chechnya has been actively developing. "Only in the first half of this year, more than 72,000 tourists from various regions of Russia and close and distant foreign countries visited the republic," the source has stressed.
