Azerbaijani oppositionist complains of pressure from colony employee
A colony warden is exerting psychological pressure and claims bribes, Murad Adilov, an activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), told his relatives.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 14, 2015, Adilov was found guilty of keeping drugs and sentenced to six years in prison. On September 5 this year, a Baku court refused to grant the conditional early relief (CER) to Adilov. According to his brother Natig Adilov, on September 7, Murad went on a protest hunger strike, after which he was placed into dungeon (punishment cell).
Natig Adilov is a columnist for the "Azadlyg" newspaper, a member of the National Council of Democratic Forces and an employee of the PFPA. He has associated the criminal prosecution of his brother with Natig's opposition activities, and after Murad's arrest, he emigrated.
According to Natig Adilov, his brother's psychological state is "very tense"; he is "on the verge of suicide."
Elshan Gasanov, the head of the Centre for Monitoring Political Prisoners, has noted that such a practice of pressure exists.
"Wardens don't like prisoners, who remind about their rights. They are nagged and reprimanded for any reason. These punishments serve as grounds for placing into dungeon, and sometimes for toughening the prison regime," said Gasanov.
Let us remind you that the human rights organization Amnesty International (AI) has put Murad Adilov on the list of political prisoners.
