Yerevan protesters demand to release Karen Kazaryan
About 50 residents of the village of Berdavan and students of the Yerevan State University (YSU) came out to protest, demanding that the authorities ensure the release of Karen Kazaryan, who was captured in Azerbaijan.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on July 15, Karen Kazaryan, born in 1984, disappeared in the village of Berdavan, Tavush Region of Armenia. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced "the prevention of sabotage and capture of an intelligence officer Karen Kazaryan in the Gazakh Region of Azerbaijan."
On November 19, YSU students and Kazaryan's relatives took part in a protest action in Yerevan. The held posters reading: "A citizen of Armenia is the supreme value of the state", "New Year with Karen!", "By all means, free Karen from the beast's mouth!" According to organizers, the number of protesters exceeded 50, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The protesters marched towards the government building, where they handed over a letter of demand from Karen Kazaryan's parents, addressed to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, raising not only Karen Kazaryan's problem, but also of the rest of Armenian prisoners in Azerbaijan.
