Dagestani journalist Idris Yusupov released from police
Idris Yusupov, a journalist of the newspaper "Novoye Delo" (New Cause), detained near a Salafi mosque in Makhachkala, reported that he had been released from the police station without any explanations. Another detainee reported that law enforcers wanted to draw up protocols against him and two other believers, but changed their minds.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, Idris Yusupov has been detained near the mosque in General Omarov Street. He claims that he was filming the detention of three believers near the mosque, but the police did not confirm the information about the detentions.
"This is not the first time that I am taken to a police station while I perform my professional duties," said Idris Yusupov. The journalist will file a complaint to the Prosecutor's Office.
On December 22, 2017, law enforcers detained Idris Yusupov for filming a police raid near a mosque in Makhachkala. He was accused of disobeying a policeman's order.
Another man detained near the mosque reported that the policemen wanted to draw up against him and two other believers the protocols on disobedience to officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), but then the policeman tore the document. The detainee added that the policemen also wanted to take his finger prints, but he refused.
