Activist associates his detention with activities of his charitable foundation

After his detention in Moscow, opera singer Vadim Cheldiev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that law enforcers asked him strange and ridiculous questions. He associates his detention with the activities of his charitable foundation "Iron Ziu".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 11, Vadim Cheldiev was detained at the Moscow airport after his arrival from Vladikavkaz. He was released later.

On March 12, opera singer and activist Vadim Cheldiev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about his detention by Moscow law enforcers. According to him, they asked him strange and sometimes ridiculous questions.

"They asked me about the purpose of my visit to Moscow. What does this question mean? For what reason they ask a citizen why he moves within his own country? I told them so: 'It's my business.' I came to see the city. Besides, they learned about my political views and about what party I supported. That's ridiculous. I support no parties," Vadim Cheldiev wondered.

He expressed his indignation about the violation of his rights as a citizen.

"They took me out, like a criminal, in a view of all my countrymen. Then they began to ask me questions. Meanwhile, they refused to provide me with any document to explain why they detained me," the activist complained.

According to him, when the Moscow law enforcers asked him about the nature of his work, he said that he was an artist, an opera singer, and the founder of a charitable foundation.

Vadim Cheldiev believes that it is the authorities of North Ossetia who stay behind the "conversation" with the Moscow law enforcers, and their interest is related to the activities of his charitable foundation "Iron Ziu".
