Two residents of Dagestan detained on suspicion of financing IS*
Residents of Makhachkala and Kizilyurt District are suspected of having transferred more than 10 million roubles to members of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court.
According to investigators, the Dagestanis sent money to two militants via e-mail; then, the money was used them for the needs of the IS*.
The criminal cases initiated against a 41-year-old resident of Makhachkala and a 29-year-old resident of the Kizilyurt District are being investigated under the article on financing terrorism, the Investigating Department (ID) for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reported on March 15 on its website.
Part 1 of Article 205.1 of the Russian Criminal Code provides for imprisonment from five to fifteen years.
Both suspects are detained; the issue of placing them behind bars is being considered, the investigators have added.
