Three Crimean Tatars detained in Rostov-on-Don

Residents of Crimea detained in Rostov-on-Don while trying to travel to Ukraine are suspected of involvement in the "Hizb ut-Tahrir", a terrorist organization banned in Russia, reports a source from the law enforcement bodies.

The detainees are identified as Osman Arifmemetov, Remzi Bekirov, and Vladlen Abdulkadyrov. The suspects have been taken from Rostov-on-Don to Simferopol, and investigators request their arrests.

The source from the law enforcement bodies associated the detention of three men in Rostov-on-Don with the detention of 20 suspected members of the "Hizb ut-Tahrir"* in the Crimea on March 27, the TASS reported.

All three detainees are Crimean Tatar activists. On March 27, law enforcers searched their houses in the Crimea in their absence, the organization "Crimean Solidarity" reported.

"Osman Arifmemetov and Remzi Bekirov are civilian journalists, streamers of the 'Crimean Solidarity'. Vladlen Abdulkadyrov has been engaged in organizing transfers to political prisoners in the SIZO (pre-trial prison)," reports a message posted on the page of the "Crimean Solidarity" on Facebook.
