General Prosecutor's Office: suspect of Paul Khlebnikov's murder extradited to Russia

The authorities of Ukraine have extradited to Russia Magomed Dukuzov, accused of assassinating Paul Khlebnikov, the editor-in-chief of the Russian edition of Forbes magazine, the RIA "Novosti" quotes today Yuri Chaika, General Prosecutor of Russia, as reporting.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 18, 2017, the Security Service of Ukraine (known as SBU) released a report about the detention in Kiev of a native of Chechnya, suspected of committing a number of contract killings, including assassination of journalist Paul Khlebnikov.

The editor-in-chief of the Russian edition of Forbes magazine was shot dead from a passing car near his own office in Moscow on July 9, 2004. Magomed and Kazbek Dukuzov, as well as Khozh-Akhmed Nukhaev, whom investigators considered to be a person who had ordered the assassination of the journalist, were put on the wanted list in the case on the murder of Paul Khlebnikov.

"Despite the aggravation of interstate relations between Russia and Ukraine, but due to the efforts made by the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of Ukraine made decisions to extradite 22 persons to Russia, including M. Dukuzov, accused of murdering US citizen Paul Khlebnikov, the editor-in-chief of the Russian edition of Forbes magazine," the RIA "Novosti" quoted the report of Russian General Prosecutor Yuri Chaika to the Federation Council on the situation with legality and law and order in the Russian Federation in 2018.
