Georgia reports release of border villager

Gocha Fidiuri, a resident of the village of Medjvriskhevi, located on the border with South Ossetia, was released after paying a fine for violating the border and handed over to Georgian law enforcers.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 20, the office of the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation reported that a resident of the village of Medjvriskhevi had been kidnapped from his land plot. Gocha Fidiuri was in his garden not far from the border line when he was detained. On April 22, he was set free after paying a fine for crossing the border, says the website of the Georgian Channel One.

Gocha Fidiuri was handed over to Georgian law enforcers at a checkpoint in the village of Ergneti, the "Georgia Online" reported on April 22.
