NKR accuses Azerbaijan of 250 shelling attacks per week

On June 2-8, Azerbaijani servicemen shelled positions of the Defence Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) from small arms, mortars and grenade launchers, the NKR's Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that from May 26 to June 1, the NKR counted 220 ceasefire violations in the conflict zone.

Over the past seven days, the Azerbaijani side violated the ceasefire for 250 times, making a total of 2500 shots, the NKR's MoD has reported on its website today. Apart from small arms, on 4 June, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces fired four mortar shots and fired 25 grenade launcher shots, the MoD has stated.

"To suppress enemy provocations, the advanced units of the NKR's Defence Army had to resort to appropriate actions," the MoD's statement adds.

As of 12:20 p.m. Moscow time on June 8, the Azerbaijani MoD did not comment on this statement on its website. However, the MoD is daily fixing the ceasefire violations on the troops contact line. Only from the morning of June 7 to morning of June 8, Azerbaijan recorded 19 shelling attacks.
