Sister of Mozdok resident succeeds in seeking investigation into his beating
On July 15, Yulia Melnichenko, a resident of Mozdok, held a picket during which she demanded from the authorities to investigate the beating of her brother Rostislav by law enforcers. After Yulia Melnichenko had met the chief of the Investigating Department for North Ossetia of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), the investigation into the case on beating was taken over by the department for particularly important cases, reported advocate Andrei Sabinin.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Rostislav Melnichenko, a resident of Mozdok, appealed to the ICRF with a complaint in which he stated that he was hospitalized with injuries after being beaten by a law enforcer in a yard of his house on March 11.
For three times, investigators repeatedly refused to institute a criminal case on abuse of power by the law enforcer, the "Abon" reported on July 15 with reference to advocate Sergey Denisenko.
On July 15, Yulia, a sister of Rostislav Melnichenko, held a solo picket in front of the building of the ICRF's Department for North Ossetia. She demanded to institute a criminal case against the law enforcers, the "Meduza" reports.
While Yulia was holding her picket, the security chief came out of the building of the ICRF's Department and invited her to meet Marat Pekov, the chief of the ICRF's Department for North Ossetia, the edition reports.
"Following the results of the conversation ..., the decision was made to transfer the case on beating from the Mozdok department to the department for particularly important cases of the ICRF's Department for North Ossetia," wrote advocate Andrei Sabinin in his "Sabinin in the Caucasus" Telegram channel.
