Municipal elections are over in Georgia
Georgia has voted at local self-government - sakrebulo of districts and cities - elections. By preliminary data, by 6 p.m. Moscow time, 40 percent of total voters have taken part in the elections.
Representatives of the Central Elections Commission (CEC) declared that "this is a very high electorate's activity level al local self-government elections." By the laws in force in Georgia, no minimum appearance threshold exists for recognizing the elections to local self-government bodies valid, ITAR-TASS reports.
On October 5, the voting day, a total of 3033 polling stations were opened in 76 constituencies for elections to local self-government bodies. The total number of registered voters in Georgia made 3,205,634 voters, including refugees from Abkhazia and citizens of Upper Abkhazia (Codori Gorge), the press service of the Georgian CEC informed earlier.
