Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of shelling attack on its border village

The ceasefire in the Karabakh conflict zone was violated 21 times within 24 hours, and the positions of the Azerbaijani troops in the village on the border with the Tavush Region of Armenia were shelled from machine guns, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reported.

The positions of the Azerbaijani troops were also shelled from heavy machine guns, in particular, in the village of Kokhanebi in the Tovuz District, the press service for the Azerbaijani MoD reported.

The fire came from positions both on the territory of Armenia and in the area "near the occupied villages," the Azerbaijani MoD's website reports.

After the escalation of the Karabakh conflict in April 2016, the parties to the conflict announced a truce, but the confrontation did not stop. For two years, shelling attacks in the conflict zone were registered daily. Meanwhile, in the period from June 20 to July 17, 2019, the Azerbaijani MoD registered single shots only.
