Tour operators not ready for trips to new Chechen tourist complex

In Chechnya, the unique "Twin Towers" tourist complex worked for the first week in the mountainous Itum-Kale District. So far, tourists do not book rooms in advance, and tour operators do not organize trips to the new tourist complex.

On October 4, the "Twin Towers" tourist complex was opened in the Argun Gorge of Chechnya, not far from the ancient Ushkaloi towers.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learned from an official of the Chechen Ministry of Tourism, the tourist complex in the Argun Gorge has no analogues in Northern Caucasus. "The tourist complex was built on a cliff near the Chanty-Argun River, and the back side of the restaurant is the cliff itself. A glass bridge several tens of meters long, thrown over the abyss, leads to the tourist complex," reported the official of the Chechen Ministry of Tourism.

The administration of the tourist complex report they have not yet received requests for booking rooms in cottages or a hotel. "We opened just the other day. So far, tourists do not book room in advance. But it's a matter of time, since we have just begun to gain popularity," an employee of the tourist complex said on October 9.

An agent of the tour operator "Krugozor" has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that so far, his company does not offer its customers the trips to the "Twin Towers" tourist complex. "It has been opened recently," said employees of the tour operator "Krugozor".

Chechnya is not among the popular tourist destinations, although interest of tourists in it is growing, notes Ilya Umansky, the head of the Committee on Internal Tourism of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).

The Chechen Ministry of Tourism has confirmed that the flow of tourists to the region is growing. "For the six months of this year, 99,345 tourists visited the republic, while during the same period of the last year, 72,400 tourists visited Chechnya," reported the Chechen Ministry of Tourism.
