Georgian resident suspected of forcing his teenage daughter to get married

In Georgia, law enforcers detained a father of a minor girl. The man is suspected of forcing his minor daughter to get married.

According to the police, the father of the girl, born in 2002, demanded from her to get married and used psychological influence on the teenager.

The police detained the girl's father for her safety. The girl herself was taken to a shelter, and nothing threatens her life and health, the "InterPressNews" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in December 2018, NGO activists conducted a survey among women from villages. In Georgia, women of ethnic and religious minorities are not aware of their rights and do not know where to address to defend them, the NGO "Georgian Democratic Initiative" reports.
