MoJ demands to liquidate Ingush Council of Teips
The Department for Ingushetia of the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has sent a lawsuit to the republic's Supreme Court (SC) demanding to liquidate the Council of Teips (family clans) of the Ingush people.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in May this year, the MoJ prescribed to suspend the activities of the above Council for three months. The Department treated the Council's appeal to the Ingush Parliament on the territorial belonging of the Prigorodny District as an extremist one.
Malsag Uzhakhov, the head of the Ingush Council of Teips, is under arrest under the criminal case on the use of violence against policemen during the March rally in Magas.
The MoJ has submitted an administrative lawsuit in the Ingush SC demanding to liquidate the Council of Teips of the Ingush People, as well as to remove the Council from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, the "Ekho Moskvy" Radio quoted on its website the message of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" on November 7.
The lawsuit states that the Council of Teips has failed to eliminate the violations revealed by MoJ's inspections, human rights defenders assert.
