Chechen police warn drivers suspected of drinking alcohol
In the Kurchaloi District, the police gathered drivers who committed offences and subjected them to a public condemnation with involvement of religious figures. The event was held amid the Ramzan Kadyrov's support for an initiative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) to confiscate cars when a driver was repeatedly caught while driving a car in state of alcoholic intoxication.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 9, on the air of the "Grozny" TV Channel, law enforcers subjected Adam Yakhyaev to condemnation for careless driving.
Earlier, people who had expressed criticism on acute problems in the field of healthcare, education, and housing and communal services were subjected to public humiliation.
"During the preventive conversation, the police officers noted that the offenders' behaviour was unworthy for a Muslim and a Chechen native," says a message posted on the Instagram.
The Russian MIA proposed to start confiscating cars from drivers caught in state of alcoholic intoxication. The leader of Chechnya said the idea was voiced by him as well.
Most social network users supported a new method of punishing drivers caught in state of alcoholic intoxication. However, user ahmd_____98 believes that the new method of punishment will open up the possibility of abuse by the law enforcement bodies.
