Ingush lawyers initiate amendments to Constitution

The lawyer of the Ingush regional branch of the "Association Russian Lawyers" have sent amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation to Pavel Krasheninnikov, a co-chair of the State Duma's profile working group, Ruslan Ozdoev, a lawyer from Nazran, wrote on February 2 in his Facebook page.

"We mean about Part 3, Article 67 of the Constitution, which provides for changing borders between subjects only with the mutual consent of these subjects. It is proposed to introduce an amendment that does not provide for the need of the mutual subjects' consent, when it comes to the territorial rehabilitation of repressed nations," Mr Ozdoev has explained.

The proposed amendment can help to restore the "Ingushes' right to the Prigorodny District" and become a "legal basis for resolving territorial disputes and establishing peace in the Caucasus," wrote the lawyer Ozdoev.
