European Court will consider the case on kidnappings of Chechnya residents
On November 9, 2006, the European Court for Human Rights will make its decision on disappearance in Chechnya of father and son Imakaevs. Imakaev's case versus Russia concerns detention and disappearance of Said-Hussein Imakaev and subsequent disappearance of his father Said-Magomed Imakaev, which happened after the parents of Said-Hussein had applied with a complaint to the European Court.
The organization "Legal Initiative for Russia" informed that in the middle of December 2000, Said-Hussein was detained by Russian soldiers at a block post. Since then, nobody has ever seen him. In February 2002, the parents of Said-Hussein - Said-Magomed and Marzet Imakaevs - lodged a complaint, with the help of the organization "Legal Initiative for Russia," to the European Court for Human Rights. Four months later, Said-Magomed was detained in his house by a group of armed soldiers and later disappeared.
We remind you that in October 2004 the Court gave priority to all the cases from Chechnya related to safety of the applicants.
