Azerbaijani oppositionist arrested for a month

Faig Amirli (Amirov), the assistant to the chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), whose kidnapping had been claimed by his spouse, was arrested for 30 days.

Lala Amirli reported that her husband had been arrested for "violating the quarantine regime."

PFPA's leader Ali Kerimli called the arrest of Faig Amirli a political order. Ali Kerimli noted that the oppositionist was detained in violation of the law: "he was actually kidnapped, and after his detention, he was not allowed to contact his relatives."

Ali Kerimli also noted that after the detention of Faig Amirli, law enforcers seized his mobile phone. The PFPA's leader emphasized that "seizing a mobile phone without a court's decision is illegal and is an interference with the person's privacy."
