"Beslan Mothers" stand in defence of North-Ossetian Georgy Guev

Zurab Makiev, a Russian Duma MP, has sent an appeal to Igor Krasnov, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, in the interests of Georgy Guev, a native of North Ossetia, accused of financing terrorism. The MP asks the Prosecutor general to take the case under his personal control and facilitate its objective consideration. The "Beslan Mothers" Association has of made a similar appeal.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Guev was detained in Moscow on May 16, 2019. He is under arrest until June 12, 2020.

Investigators believe that from 2015 to 2019, Guev raised money for the "Islamic State" (IS, a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation by the court), and for Israil Akhmednabiev (Abu Umar Sasitlinsky, a well-known Dagestani preacher), the founder of the "Mukhadjirun" Islamic Foundation. Guev himself has stated that he had made only a few money transfers to the "Living Heart" Charity Foundation.

The "Beslan Mothers" Association of Victims of Terror Acts has treated the charge against Guev as absurd.

"Guev's mother herself was a victim of a terror act in Vladikavkaz. For several hours after the act, Guev could not contact his family and experienced a deep stress. For this reason, he has developed a persistent rejection of terrorism," says the statement of the Association.
