GBA: Zelimkhan Khangoshvili killed by Russian authorities' order
A case on the murder of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili in Berlin had been brought to court, and the Russian Ambassador has been summoned to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Germany in connection with the above. A defendant in the murder case got an order from the Russian authorities, announced the Office of the German Federal Public Prosecutor (Generalbundesanwaltschaft, GBA).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, a native of the Pankisi Gorge in Georgia, was killed in Berlin on August 23, 2019. A Russian citizen was detained on suspicion of killing Zelimkhan Khangoshvili. Relatives of the victim suggested that the Russian and Georgian secret services were interested in the killing of the citizen of Georgia.
Earlier, there had been a version concerning the alleged involvement of Ramzan Kadyrov's subordinates in the murder of the native of the Pankisi Gorge. Ramzan Kadyrov himself said that the authorities of Chechnya and Russia had not been involved in the murder of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili.
Members of the Chechen Diaspora in Europe associated the murder of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili with the activities of the Russian secret services.
According to investigators, the Russian citizen got an order from "public institutions of the Russian Federation" to kill the Georgian citizen. "The motive for the murder order was the fact that the victim was in opposition to the Russian authorities and the pro-Russian government of Georgia," the GBA reports on its official website.
