Many thousands strong nation-wide public rally held in Abkhazia
Up to 40,000 persons from all cities and regions of Abkhazia arrived to the meeting. The government has provided free transport facilities to all who wanted to take part in the event.
The participants of the nation-wide rally have again expressed their request to Russia to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and to establish associated relations therewith. The participants of the meeting have also addressed the United Nations and the world community demanding "while respecting the basic principle of the right of nations to self-determination, with account of the will of the people, to recognize the independence of Abkhazia."
The application that has been passed today at the nation-wide rally in Sukhumi emphasizes that "all the attempts to bring Abkhazia back under Georgia's jurisdiction are absolutely unpromising."
