Drivers note tension decrease in crossing Dagestani-Chechen border
Residents of Dagestan travel to Chechnya by buses, while taxi drivers agree to bring people only to the border, where residents of other regions must present a certificate stating that they are not sick with coronavirus. In recent days, policemen are no longer demanding such certificates from all passengers; therefore, the queues on the border have decreased, drivers inform.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 3, within the cancellation of coronavirus restrictions, Chechnya resumed the bus travels from Grozny to 22 cities of Russia. Drivers from the neighbouring regions, including Dagestan, complained about long queues at the entrances to Chechnya because of certificate checks.
In recent days, there have been no problems with crossing the border with Chechnya, a driver, who is transporting passengers from Makhachkala to Grozny, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The drivers of intercity routs passing across Chechnya refuse to take passengers who have to disembark in Chechnya, said a driver of the Dagestan-North Ossetia route.
Akhmed, a Chechen living in Khasavyurt, said that "it's very problematic to go to Grozny."
Travel agencies have not yet resumed tours to Chechnya, the interviewed employees of the tourist industry of Dagestan and Kabardino-Balkaria have stated.
Let us reminds you that in late June, Chechnya opened its resorts Veduchi, Kezenoi-Am and Sernovodsk-Kavkazsky. Local residents treated it as inappropriate amid the restrictions imposed on entry to and exit from the republic.
