More than 500 Azerbaijani citizens still stay in Kullar after another group sent home

On Tuesday, 250 citizens of Azerbaijan were taken home from Dagestan, and about 500 others still wait for their turn and stay at a tent camp arranged in the village of Kullar. The Moscow Diaspora of Azerbaijanis called on the authorities to include more people in groups to be sent home from the tent camp once a week.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the border between Russia and Azerbaijan is closed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Citizens of Azerbaijan wait for the departure to their homeland and have to live in a temporary accommodation centre near the Dagestani village of Kullar.

A group of Azerbaijani citizens sent home today included about 50 women and children, said Afig Allakhverdiev, the deputy chairman of the regional National Cultural Autonomy of Azerbaijanis in the Moscow Region. Afig Allakhverdiev has also added that today, only 4-5 persons have been sent home out of about one hundred people, who have been staying at the tent camp for more than a month.

Let us remind you that on June 15, a protest action took place at the tent camp, and it turned into clashes with the police. Four law enforcers and 10 Azerbaijani citizens were injured. 83 protesters were arrested for 10 days.
