Chechen residents criticize Daudov's demand to confiscate cars for absence of mask
According to a video disseminated on the Internet, Magomed Daudov, the speaker of the Chechen parliament, has voiced a demand to confiscate cars from drivers who do not wear protective masks. Instagram users considered the demand for confiscation of people's property for violation of the mask regime unjustified.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Chechen authorities tightened the measures to prevent the coronavirus spread, after Ramzan Kadyrov was outraged in late July that he had met no people in medical masks while walking in Grozny.
A video in which Magomed Daudov, the head of the Chechen operational headquarters for countering the spread of the coronavirus infection in the republic, demanded to confiscate cars from drivers who violated the mask regime, was posted in the Instagram public account "ChP / Chechnya" at night on August 20.
In their comments left under the post, most users responded in the negative way to the statement voiced by the chairman of the Chechen parliament. "I wonder how they explain that one needs to travel along in a car with a mask on a face. They should have explained the logic to people at least, otherwise they teach the people to the slavish concept of 'they told you to do something, and you were obliged to do that'," user musafir__world expressed his dissatisfaction.
"He wants to immediately confiscate a car for any violation!" user sayfullah_l_r_g_095 expresses the indignation. "There is no such law to confiscate people's cars," wrote user bekaev_sssr.
Several users noted that Magomed Daudov himself did not have a protective mask on his face. "And where is your mask?" user michail_6699 asked Magomed Daudov.
