Azerbaijan reports shelling attacks on four border villages
The positions of the Azerbaijani troops, including in villages on the border with Armenia, were shelled 28 times over 24 hours, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reported.
"Units of the armed forces of Armenia used sniper rifles and 28 times violated the ceasefire in various directions of the front over 24 hours," the Azerbaijani MoD reported on its official website.
The positions of the Azerbaijani troops were shelled in the villages of Agdam, Agbulag, and Garalar in the Tovuz District, in the village of Zamanly and at unnamed heights in the Gadabay District. The fire also came from the area considered by Azerbaijan as its occupied territories.
The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on August 23, the Azerbaijani MoD reported about an incident with saboteurs in the Karabakh conflict zone, and an Armenian officer was taken captive. The Ministry of Defence of Armenia claimed that Gurgen Alaverdyan was not a saboteur, but he got lost because of bad weather.
Let us remind you that the conflict escalated on July 12. Azerbaijan accused Armenia of trying to attack its positions. According to the Armenian side, the escalation of the situation in the region was triggered by an attempt to break through the border committed by the Azerbaijani troops. According to the official information, in the period from July 12 to July 27, six soldiers from the Armenian side were killed, while other 35 soldiers, two policemen, and one civilian were wounded. The authorities of Azerbaijan reported about 13 killed people, including 12 soldiers and one civilian, and four wounded soldiers.
