Social network users condemn law enforcers after pensioner's suicide in KBR
Law enforcement bodies should deal with solving serious crimes, and not prosecute a pensioner for a hemp bush growing in his garden, Instagram users have commented on the news of the suicide of a resident of the village of Nartkala.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 18, the 85-year-old Nikolai Zakharchenko committed suicide. A few days before that, his house was searched, during which a bush of wild hemp was seized and a case on drug dealing was initiated against him. According to Nikolai's wife, he pulled out the plant in the garden and fed it to his rabbits.
According to law enforcers, the suspect, "having dried the leaves, kept them for personal consumption without the purpose of selling them," the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has informed.
Instagram users have condemned the law enforcers, who had found a bush of wild hemp at the reason for the pensioner's criminal prosecution.
"They'd better solve crimes and not look for hemp in gardens," the user zurida_12_34 has written.
"Probably, there's nothing more to do in our ideal republic than pursuing an 85-year-old man for cannabis," the user dianaakh07 has agreed.
It should be noted that the pensioner's widow has stated that during the search in the yard, law enforcers deliberately went to the place where the hemp bush was found; and at the police station they persuaded him to sign empty protocols.
