Court recalls decision to arrest two men accused of riots near Kullar

The defence succeeded in seeking the cancellation of the decision to extend the arrest of Emin Imamaliev and Elbrus Akhmedov, accused of attacking law enforcers during a protest action in a camp in the Kullar village. The court dismissed a request of the Prosecutor's Office to take defendant Djeikhun Namazov in custody.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that three defendants in the Kullar riots case – Elmar Mekhtiev, Anvar Muradov, and Djeikhun Namazov – were placed under house arrest. Seven others, including Rovshan Guseinov, Elbrus Akhmedov, Nakhid Agaev, Aziz Ferekzade, Emin Imamaliev, Elmar Musaev, and Taral Giyasov – are being kept in custody.

Today, the Supreme Court (SC) of Dagestan has considered an appeal filed by the Prosecutor's Office against the decision of the Derbent City Court which changed the pre-trial restriction measure for Djeikhun Namazov to house arrest, advocate Murad Velikhanov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

After that, the court has considered in turn the appeals filed by the defenders of Emin Imamaliev and Elbrus Akhmedov.

According to Sergey Saidakhmedov, an advocate of Emin Imamaliev, there was no evidence of his client's guilt, except for the "unfounded" testimony given by the injured law enforcer.

By the court's decision, the extension of the arrest of Emin Imamaliev and Elbrus Akhmedov was cancelled and sent for reconsideration by other judges at the Derbent City Court. Until a new consideration of the investigator's motion, in accordance with the court's decision, the defendants will remain in custody until September 14.
