Russian LGBT network reports about kidnapping of a young woman in Chechnya
A member of the "Russian LGBT Network" reported about a kidnapping by law enforcers of Aminat Abdueva, a resident of Grozny. Earlier, she complained about threats.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that persecution because of non-traditional sexual orientation is typical for Chechnya. In their comments to the film "The Chechen War against LGBT" directed by Karen Shakhinyan, people called the methods of persecution of gays and lesbians in the republic "the wildest Middle Ages".
According to Veronika Lapina, an employee of the "Russian LGBT Network", Aminat Abdueva, a 19-year-old resident of Grozny, appealed for help on August 7.
She wrote that her relatives were threatening her with reprisals because of her non-traditional sexual orientation. According to Aminat Abdueva, relatives seized her mobile phone and passport. The "Russian LGBT Network" began to provide assistance to Aminat Abdueva, but on August 21, the contact with her was lost. According to the "Russian LGBT Network", Aminat Abdueva intended to leave Chechnya on August 23, but was detained.
