Inal Djabiev's widow demands removal of Russian forensic expert

Oksana Sotieva, the widow of Inal Djabiev, who died after detention, has asked the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of South Ossetia to dismiss Sergey Gruzdev, a forensic expert from Russia, since she doubts his impartiality.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Inal Djabiev, detained within the case of an attempt on the head of South-Ossetian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), died on August 28. Photos with traces of beatings on his body appeared in social networks; and Tskhinvali townspeople went to a rally, demanding resignation of the government. Eight MIA employees were detained within the Djabiev's death case, and Andrei Tskhovrebov, a deputy minister, was dismissed. On September 9, the South-Ossetian parliament failed to set up a commission for investigating Djabiev's death, since a number of MPs were absent.

An application from Oksana Sotieva, Djabiev's widow, was received by the South-Ossetian GPO on September 10, the "Res" News Agency reports.

On September 8, the GPO announced that a forensic expert, Sergey Gruzdev, had been invited from Russia to establish the exact causes of Djabiev's death.
