Armenia turns to ECtHR about people missing in conflict zone
The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) should demand from Azerbaijani authorities to ensure the right to life of the ten civilians who disappeared on the Goris-Shushi road and refrain from ill-treatment of them, the Armenia's representative to the ECtHR has stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 10, the agreement signed by Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on the cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh came into force. After that, the Armenian population of the Karvachar (the Azerbaijani name is Kelbadjar) District began leaving for Armenia en masse; and refugees from Armenia, accompanied by Russian peacemakers, are returning to Nagorno-Karabakh.
Egishe Kirakosyan, the Armenia's representative to the ECtHR wrote in her Facebook page that her request was submitted "with the aim of preventing irreparable harm to the lives" of the missing people and "inhuman treatment" of them.
Earlier, Larisa Alaverdyan, a former Armenia's Ombudsperson, said at an oppositional rally in Yerevan that after the declaration of a ceasefire in Karabakh, at least six people were taken hostage, including an elderly couple, the "Sputnik-Armenia" reports.
