Ingushetian court defeats a claim to the authorities who dispersed the picket in memory of Politkovskaya

The Nazran District Court of Ingushetia has rejected the claim of the "Mashr" Association of Relatives of Missing People demanding to qualify as illegal the actions of the Mayor's Office of the city of Nazran who prohibited to hold a picket in memory of Anna Politkovskaya on October 16 last year, and of the Nazran City Interior Department and Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia who had dispersed the action with use of violence. This news was reported to the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" by Magomed Mutsolgov, Chairman of the "Mashr."

In Mr. Mutsolgov's words, Judge Molotkhan Korigova has declared that despite the fact that the notification about holding the picket was filed and submitted according to the law; the "Mashr" Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization (ANCO) has no right to hold pickets. This was the argument of Nazran's administration, which referred to the Charter of the public association, where organization of public actions is not listed among the aims of the ANCO.

The Chairman of the "Mashr" ANCO told the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" that he would not accept the court ruling and appeal against it at the Supreme Court of Ingushetia.
