In protest, relatives of missing military servicemen block Yerevan street

Relatives of missing servicemen blocked traffic in the street near the building of the Armenian Government for an hour. They demanded from authorities to urgently approve the list of those who are still in Azerbaijani captivity.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after the conclusion of the truce with Azerbaijan in November 2020, residents of Armenia appealed to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) aiming to achieve the extradition of the prisoners of war (POWs). The ECtHR received complaints about the rights violations of 228 captured residents of Armenia and 13 captured citizens of Azerbaijan. The real number of Armenian POWs is even higher, Siranush Saakyan, a lawyer has suggested.

The protesters have stated that their meetings with the Prime Minister and the Defence Minister had yielded no results; and for more than 100 days there had no news from their missing relatives.

"Authorities are inactive, otherwise we would have at least some information about our relatives," one of the protesters said on air of "Para.TV" channel.

The wife of one of the missing persons said that for the last time she spoke with her husband on the phone was October 20, 2020, after that, he never got back in touch.
