Trial of OMON fighters will continue tomorrow in Krasnodar Territory

A court trial has started in Sochi of OMON (Special Militia) members of the Head Department of Internal Affairs ("GUVD") of the Krasnodar Territory accused of excess of powers during the mass clean-up ("zachistka") in the "Druzhba" (Friendship) children's camp, which was committed in summer of 2006.

They have reported at the press service of the Committee against Tortures that in the course of today's preliminary court session, the defendants' advocates presented a number of petitions in relation to changing the freedom restriction measure applied to the OMON members, who are presently kept in custody. The state accusation has stood against changing the custody mode for the militiamen. The court session has announced a break till 3:00 p.m. tomorrow.
