MIA to investigate beating of Gadjiev by law enforcers

The Department for Dagestan of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) scheduled a check after receiving reports about unreasonable beating of Ibragim Gadjiev by the police during his detention, the MIA reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 31, armed men took Ibragim away from his home in Makhachkala as a witness in the above case. Sapiyat Magomedova, a Gadjiev'a advocate, has suggested that these were the law enforcers sent from some other region. The ambulance doctors who came to Gadjiev at the police station fixed traces of beatings and the use of electric current on his body, said Uma Askerkhanova, a member of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) of Dagestan.

The Dagestani MIA has scheduled a check regarding the search and detention of Ibragim Gadjiev, a former employee of the operational-and-search unit of the Dagestani MIA’s Internal Security Department, the press service for the Dagestani MIA reports.

"In the course of monitoring on the Internet, the information was revealed about the allegedly unlawful use of physical force and special equipment by the police during detention of an attacker. The Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Republic of Dagestan have scheduled a check to investigate the above fact. As a result of the check, the MIA will release a legal assessment of the police actions," reported a press officer of the Dagestani MIA as quoted today by the newspaper “Chernovik” (Draft).
