Makhachkala: picketers support journalist Gadjiev
The picketers in Makhachkala have demanded the release of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a journalist of the "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly and stop unjustified arrests. People's interest in the Gadjiev case remains high, his colleagues assert.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Gadjiev's colleagues and friends are regularly holding actions in Makhachkala demanding to release him. On March 22, picketers also spoke out against political persecutions.
Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the "Ansar" charitable fund, Kemal Tambiev and the journalist, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, had been detained on charges of financing of terrorism. Gadjiev insists on his innocence.
A solo picket demanding to release Gadjiev and stop his criminal prosecution was held on Monday by Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik".
The second solo picket demanding "to stop arrests without proofs" was held by Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the "Chernovik".
Mr Kamalov has noted that people are sure of Gadjiev's innocence, but they refuse to express their position by solo pickets. In his opinion, anyone can find oneself in his colleague's situation. However, people prefer to react to a problem when it touches them personally, he believes.
